Trip Report: Kendall Katwalk 8 July 2018

Distance: 12+ miles
Snow: very little
Bugs: lots

After a long day of travel Saturday, I decided to sneak in an unplanned day hike before getting back to “real life”. I’ve been trying to explore more of the I-90 / Snoqualmie Pass area as of late since it’s easy to get to from the city. If you avoid the top 5 common hikes in North Bend (Rattlesnake Ledge & Ridge, Little Si, Si, Mailbox Peak) they’re not even too crowded. A lot of trailheads have been expanded and improved recently, with paved parking, dropoff/pickup zones for the King County Metro Trailhead Direct service, latrines, etc.

I decided to go a bit farther this weekend, to West Summit, I-90 Exit 52. There, at an ample parking area (with an overflow lot even), it only took maybe 5 minutes waiting for someone to leave to get a space and I got there at almost 11am. Probably luck.

The hike to Kendall Katwalk begins just off Exit 52, at the PCT Snoqualmie Pass trailhead. Anyway, a gallery:
